Live Earth - singing to save the planet

Mark July 7, 2007 in your diary, it is a day that could change the world's view on Climate Change and Global Warming forever.

Live Earth is a 24-hour, 7-continent series of 9 concerts, taking place across the globe on July 7 (7/7/07) that will bring together more than 100 musicians and 2 billion people to trigger a global movement to help solve the climate crisis.
The concerts will be taking place in New York, London, Johannesburg, Rio De Janeiro, Shanghai, Tokyo, Sydney, Hamburg and Istanbul.
The Rio De Janeiro concert is actually FREE and organisers are hoping to get atleast 1 million people on the beach for the party.
The nine concerts will feature performances by big name acts such as: AFI, Kelly Clarkson, The Police, Rihanna, Madonna, The Beastie Boys, Crowded House, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park, Ludacris, Black Eyed Peas, Fall Out Boy, James Blunt, the list goes on and on!
And don't worry if you can't get there though because in New Zealand Live Earth will be screened live as a 22 hour broadcast on C4 tv from 8pm on 7/7/07. Vodafone Select Live will kick off C4's coverage with a special broadcast from 6 -8pm, featuring videos from the artists playing and giveaways.

Live Earth will implement new Green Event Guidelines.
All Live Earth venues will be designed and constructed by a team of sustainability engineers who will address the environmental and energy management challenges of each concert site, as well as the operations of sponsors, partners and other Live Earth affiliates.

AOTEAROA LIVE
In New Zealand July 7 this year has also been tagged Aotearoa Live, a day for New Zealanders to express their concern about climate change.

While Live Earth concerts are being held around the world, to raise awareness about global warming, climate change campaigners ClimAction are inviting New Zealanders to take part in local events during the day.

"Climate change is the greatest threat facing humanity today. Around the world people will be speaking out at the Live Earth concerts, it¹s a great opportunity to goin our voices with theirs," said ClimAction spokesperson David Colyer.

"We invite everyone who is concerned about climate change to join in."

Two events have already been announced:
+ A street parade will leave Aotea Square at 2 pm.
+ The Live Earth concerts will be screened at Tom Forde's Pub at 122 Anzac Ave, from eight. (AUCKLAND)
